WPP Open
2025
Accelerating workforce operational efficiency
Helping the world’s leading advertising agencies empower their workers and scale creative ideas.

Overview
How might we empower the AdTech workforce in a rapidly changing industry?
During a time of emerging AI integration and operational change, I contributed as a UX/UI Designer for WPP Open’s Workforce Management team, focusing on the Timesheets app Minimum Viable Product (MVP) launch for employees at WPP's portfolio of companies worldwide.

Problem
0 to 1
The goal: create a modular, intuitive workforce management system that allows employees to track time, manage billable and non-billable tasks, and provide managers with visibility to optimise resources and capital more efficiently.
MVP Focus: A simple, scalable time entry experience integrated with WPP’s existing Project Management app.
Users could log billable tasks pre-loaded from PM dashboards and add custom non-billable tasks themselves.
Designed to scale seamlessly to future integrations with Resource Management teams and other internal reporting tools.
Maintained visual consistency with WPP’s legacy design system to build trust and reduce adoption friction.

User Journeys
Looking beyond the numbers
My Contributions
Led end-to-end UX/UI design from ideation to developer-ready handoff.
Designed a side modal for task details, improving usability while keeping consistency with adjacent apps.
Created comprehensive documentation for engineers, detailing cell states, hover messages, and interaction patterns.
Worked closely with 1 other Senior UX Designer and engineers to ensure feasibility and adherence to WPP's legacy design system.

MVP
Exploring interface directions
Key Strategic Outcomes
Created a 0→1 MVP for a critical workforce tool in record time, ensuring alignment with business goals.
Improved clarity and usability for task entry, fostering confidence in early users.
Designed a system that anticipates AI-driven enhancements, preparing WPP Open to leverage automation in time-tracking and resource allocation.
Advocated for user-focused design principles in a legacy system, helping build trust and adoption potential among clients

The AI Disruption
As AI transforms AdTech workflows, time management, resource allocation, and employee engagement will be critical to operational success.
The Timesheets MVP provides a foundation for:
Transparent and fair tracking of individual contributions
Encouraging team adoption and motivation by showing how effort impacts outcomes
Creating a scalable system for AI-powered insights in project management
I helped shape a human-centered experience that balances efficiency, clarity, and inclusivity in the Timesheet's early stages of development. Because the experience isn't all about resources, but also about how an employee's impact can be measured more meaningfully.
While the product continues to evolve, the strategic foundation and design system implementation I contributed positions WPP Open to respond to AI disruptions and future workforce needs with more ease. I look forwards to see how Resource Management will continue to evolve with AI.
